About

This Blog is basically a collection of my various ramblings about Football Manager. It’ll cover things like Training, Tactics, Player Development, Club Development, Scouting and Transfers. It’s not intended to be any sort of definitive guide or anything like that, it’s just my ideas, how I play the game and what I think works best. If it can be any use to anyone else then that’s great, if not I hope it’ll at least help people in the way they think about the game and maybe generate some discussion.

I’ll also host some content about my current FM careers, with other stuff posted on the SI forums. My current Career is right here:

(FM13): Turning the Roman Empire into Mes Que un Club

I’ve called it “Playing Between the Lines” because this is not only an important tactical concept and something that is very important in FM, but I think it really describes the way I play the game. It’s above not just using the options that the game emphasises, but looking deeper, adding greater levels of detail that may not always be represented, but can enhance your experience. It’s about playing the game in the space between the basics offered by the game, and the experience of reality, filling in the gaps that make the game a more inclusive experience. This means not cutting corners, not exploiting flaws in the game, but working as you in real life, even if it’s not always optimised in the game. For me, it’s all about “Playing Between the Lines”.

I hope this is useful for people, feel free to give me any feedback in the comments section or on Twitter @PlayingTheLines
